About Japan Pulp & Paper

For more than 150 years, history and experience have made Japan Pulp & Paper one of the largest and most well known paper trading companies. As a pure paper specialist, we concentrate on the international trade of all kind of paper and paper related products.

1845 Opening of a small Retail Trade Shop

The idea of paper trading was born in 1845 in Kyoto by Saburobei Nakai establishing a small retail shop offering traditional Japanese papers, called washi papers.

1916 Establishement of the Mothercompany in Tokyo

After the foundation of "JPP's" head office in 1916 in Tokyo, several new branches throughout Japan were established, and paper distribution contracts with big Japanese paper manufacturers were concluded. During these years "JPP" has built up a solid base and extensive co-operation with the Japanese paper industry.
This historical background, combined with constant development and growth, has made us an international organization with 1,200 employees. The Japanese headquarters, eight overseas subsidiaries and eleven representative offices and affiliates, have a yearly turnover of more than four billion US Dollars.

1973 Company listed on the first Section of the Tokyo Stock Exchange and the Osaka Securities Exchange

2001 ISO 14001 certification obtained at Tokyo Head Office

2002 ISO 14001 certification obtained at all domestic facilities.
